What we’re looking for
Due to Vertu Motor's continued success and growth we are expanding our IT team to ensure we continue to provide the best possible service to our internal and external customers.
We are looking for a junior front end web developer / designer to help drive and deliver new functionality and enhancements to our group websites and intranet systems. This is an excellent and rare opportunity to join our IT team and build your future career with the fastest growing Motor Retailer in the UK.
This role has the potential to grow into a more senior role over 24-36 months.
Irrespective of the role, the “non-negotiable” for any of our colleagues are, drive, character, attitude, energy and talent. Relevant IT experience is important to us, as can be seen by the responsibilities of the role, but is not sufficient on its own as you will need to demonstrate that you have used those attributes to achieve your goals in the past.
In addition to this you will also need to be self-motivated and passionate about everything you do.
Please provide evidence of work as part of your application.
Role & Responsibilities
Following an agile approach to web development you will be required to build a page/ site using semantic HTML and object orientated CSS from an initial design. You will often be required to work through the design and offer consultancy on how best to implement and alert any potential issues with the design that may crop up. At times you will be expected to integrate third party API’s and plugins.
Testing websites will be an integral part of your role. You will be expected to develop and implement test plans and use various tools to ensure all applications are error free, user friendly, accessible and standards compliant across all browsers and devices. Bug tracking and fixing will be required.
In addition to building and testing websites you will also play a key role in creating and enhancing our bespoke content management system. Working through creating a spec you will liaise with our server side developers on building the CMS and once fully tested and launched you will then play a key role in training colleagues on how to edit and maintain pages via the system.
Finally you will also create documentation detailing the additions to the system / processes we introduce.
What You Can Expect
We believe that in order to succeed and be the best motor retailer in the UK we need to have the best people working for us. Creating an environment in which colleagues can excel and achieve their aspirations is one of our core philosophies. Once you are employed by us you can look forward to on-going training opportunities and long-term career progression. We will always be happy to listen to your ideas and discuss your development with you on a regular basis.
In terms of training and coaching we have promised, as a key priority in helping us achieve our vision that we will invest more heavily in this area than any of our competitors.
As you would expect from an employer of choice, we also offer a range of benefits, including a competitive salary with performance related bonuses, childcare voucher scheme, share incentive plan and contributory pension scheme. You will also receive preferential rates on vehicle and parts purchases and servicing.
