What should one look for before buying a leg press machine?
Checking the dimensions of the machine and comparing it to the amount of free space you have available is a good start. It’s also important to check the total weight that can be loaded on the machine as this will give you an idea of whether it is suitable for your level of not. Most people that are really into using leg presses use them to train with very heavy weights without having to worry about balancing the weight or getting squashed when failing to complete a rep. (this is achieved by the use of limiters, which are always nice to have).
Another thing you should check for is if the machine is adjustable and can accommodate your height. The user weight limit won’t be an issue for most people but users that are really tall might find that they don’t have enough room. It’s always a good idea to check the manufacturer’s website to make sure that the machine will fit you right.
